Fluffy slime is no different than regular slime, except that it is much softer and fluffier thanks to the addition of shaving cream. Shaving cream really makes a big difference! It gives the rainbow slime a much softer texture and fluffiness. Here’s how to make the best fluffy slime ever:

Materials for rainbow fluffy slime

  • 1 glass of transparent glue
  • 2-3 cups of shaving foam
  • 2 tsp. solution for contact lenses
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • Food dyes in the colors of the rainbow – red, yellow, blue and green
  • Mixing bowls and spatula

How to make the best fluffy rainbow slime

Step 1: Take a mixing bowl and add 3-4 cups of shaving foam. You can increase the amount of shaving foam if you want your rainbow slime to be fluffier.

Step 2: Add the clear glue and baking soda to the shaving foam and mix gently. Be careful not to mix too much, as this will smooth out the shaving foam and prevent the slime from taking on a loose texture.

Step 3: Next, add the contact lens solution to the fluffy slime mixture, one teaspoon at a time, and mix gently.

Step 4: Now that the slime is almost ready, it’s time to add the food coloring. Add a few drops of red food coloring to get the desired shade and mix well to distribute the coloring evenly.

Step 5: This is the final step in making slime, where you will need to knead and stretch the slime with your hands for at least 5-8 minutes. Remember that loose slime requires more kneading than regular slime.

At first it may seem sticky, but in the process of kneading, the situation will improve. If this does not happen, add 1-2 drops of contact lens solution, but do it slowly. Too much solution will make the slime hard.

Once the slime is no longer sticky, consider it ready to play.

Follow the same steps to make fluffy slime in other colors of the rainbow, such as yellow, green, and blue. When they’re all ready, stack them on top of each other to create super stretchy and fluffy rainbow slime.

That’s it! Your fluffy rainbow slime is ready to play. Rainbow slime is a great visual and sensory experience that toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners will love.

Tips for making the best fluffy rainbow slime

Although slime is fairly easy to make, it can be a bit tricky. Just a few extra drops of contact lens solution can rob it of its elasticity, and using the wrong solution can turn it into a puddle.

But don’t worry, here I’ll share the best slime tips and safety precautions I’ve learned through trial and error over the years of making slime. I can assure you that this will save you a lot of trouble and give your kids the best homemade slime ever.

  • If you think the slime is too runny, add more clear glue to the mixture. And if it’s too sticky, a few drops of contact lens solution will fix it. Be sure to add small amounts gradually, and not too much at once.
  • This borax-free slime recipe uses contact lens solution. I don’t recommend any particular brand, but you need to make sure that the contact lens solution you use for this recipe contains boric acid and sodium borate. I have tried Equate and Renu Fresh contact lens solutions and both work equally well. Although borax is an aggressive chemical, boric acid and sodium borate contact lens solutions are mild and do not cause skin irritation. But in any case, if you or your child has sensitive skin, I recommend wearing disposable gloves when mixing the slime.
  • If skin irritation or redness occurs while handling the slime, please discard it immediately.
  • While mixing the slime, apply baby oil to your hands. This will prevent the slime from sticking to your hands.
  • Always make slime on a flat surface covered with plastic wrap. Making slime is a messy business, and you don’t want to spoil the kids’ fun by worrying about the mess.
  • Use plastic bowls and silicone spatulas to mix the slime, as they are easier to clean.
  • Use ziplock bags or airtight containers to store slime. The fluffiness will disappear after a day, but storing the slime in airtight bags will prevent it from drying out and hardening.
  • When making slime, adult supervision is required.
  • Slime should not be taken into the mouth under any circumstances. If you have young children who like to put things in their mouths, I recommend making edible slime.
  • Be sure to tie up your hair and your child’s hair while you are making/playing with the slime. You don’t want the slime to get in your hair, but if it does, apply baby oil to the area and gently brush it out.

Well, what! That’s probably all. With these simple slime tips and safety precautions, I’m sure your kids will have a great time playing and making slime.

Happy sliming!
